Kaiser Permanente recognizes that the success of our business depends upon people working in a spirit of cooperation for the betterment of the world around us. We have a responsibility to be a good neighbor and to be involved in community issues and concerns. We believe that if we invest in our neighbors with volunteer and financial resources, positive partnerships will result as we strive to sustain and improve the quality of life for all.

OVERVIEW OF EMPLOYEE VOLUNTEER PROGRAM

The employee volunteer system is administered though the Community and Benefit Relations department.  All employees have up to 96 hours annually for community service with their supervisor’s approval.

WHY OUR COMPANY VOLUNTEERS

Volunteering speaks to the mission of Kaiser Permanente as a nonprofit, integrated health care delivery system. The success of our business depends upon people working in a spirit of collaboration to sustain and improve our quality of life for all. We have a responsibility to be a good neighbor and to be involved in community issues and concerns.

BIGGEST VOLUNTEER ACCOMPLISHMENT IN 2014

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is seen as a day to promote equal rights for all Americans, regardless of their background.  In recent years, federal legislation has encouraged Americans to give some of their time on this day as volunteers. Kaiser Permanente has supported a DAY ON, not a Day Off on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day for the past nine years. Since 2005, KPCO physicians and employees have provided thousands of community service hours to various nonprofit partners in Colorado. Approximately 450 Kaiser Permanente employees, families, and friends performed over 4,400 hours of community service for over 40 nonprofit organizations in 12 cities on January 19th for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

In Northern Colorado, Kaiser Permanente employees, families, and friends volunteered in the kitchen at FoCo Café in Fort Collins, and employees put together 200 first aid kits for Homeless Gear.

WHERE WE HELPED IN 2014

From sorting donated clothing at Care and Share Food Bank of Southern Colorado, preparing meals for the community at FoCo Café in Fort Collins, to stocking a food pantry in Holly Square at the Community Resource Center in Denver, the spirit of volunteerism was alive and well in honor of the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Thanks to all of our volunteers not just for MLK Day activities, but for every day throughout the year that a difference is made in the communities we serve.
