COMPANY COMMUNITY MISSION
OtterBox gives back to the community through our OtterCares Foundation, whose mission is “Championing innovative education that inspires youth to become entrepreneurs and philanthropists who create lasting and impactful change in their communities.”
OVERVIEW OF EMPLOYEE VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
The OtterCares Foundation motivates employee volunteerism though the organization of group projects, promotion of community volunteer opportunities, and encouragement of skills-based volunteering. Alongside our staff, we have a dedicated group of 90 employee supporters called OtterCares Ambassadors who work to champion volunteering and community engagement within our departments. Whenever possible, OtterCares encourages volunteer projects and activities that relate to our mission.
WHY OUR COMPANY VOLUNTEERS
Engaging employees in work that contributes to our mission is a primary focus of the OtterCares Foundation. We believe that everyone has something to give and we encourage our employees to give back not only by volunteering, but though any of the “Three Ts” - time, talent or treasure.
BIGGEST VOLUNTEER ACCOMPLISHMENT IN 2014
In 2014, employee utilization of volunteer time rose substantially from 55% of the employees volunteering in 2013 to 72% of employees that volunteered in 2014. A total of 778 employees contributed 10,114 hours of volunteer time last year! Additionally, we had 166 employees use all 24 hours of their available paid volunteer time!
A STORY WE WOULD LIKE TO SHARE
In 2014, the OtterCares Foundation increased our focus on volunteer efforts related to our philanthropic mission of championing innovative education that inspires youth to become entrepreneurs and philanthropists who create lasting and impactful change in their communities. One such event happened when we partnered with Junior Achievement of Colorado on their annual Business Week event. This event brings students from all over the state in for a week-long camp and this year’s Business Week Challenge was to design a brand new OtterBox case for teenagers and come up with a marketing plan to sell the case. Our employees helped create the curriculum for this week and also hosted students onsite to learn about our product design and sales processes. At the end of the week, Otter Products employees served as judges to choose the best new case concept.
WHERE WE HELPED IN 2014
Employees volunteer each year with hundreds of different organizations in Larimer County and nationally in other locations where Otter Products has offices. Our largest volunteer event each year is the Pack2School event, which is hosted by OtterCares. Over 175 employees volunteer on this day to help provide backpacks and school supplies to families in need.
